landscape,one that incorporates inn5、ovation,sustainability,recreation and development within an artful design framework.By envisioning the landscape from a broader perspective,our approach transcends the ordinary notions of park to become a new Lifescape Ecology.Our ability to draw on the knowledge and expertise of other disciplines,w6、orking in close collaboration with urban designers and environment planners,enables us to formulate clearer development and sustainable strategies for the park.Our ultimate objective is to enhance the experiential nature of the park,reveal the intrinsic beauty of the site and utilize ecological proc7、esses,fully integrating the landscape with the proposed development.This conceptual interface between the development,nature and the park is critical in ParkThe project site is located in the Longgan central compre-hensive group of Shenzhen approximately kilometers from Shenzhens CBD.It is ideally located with express way con-nects to Guangzhou and Dongguan.The site is approximately 60 square hectares,about 34ha for openspace and 27 ha fo11、r mix used development.It is set within a verdant undulating southern china landscape.The Yabao auxillary reservoir sits in the center of the site with an overfl ow fl ood channel at the east edge connecting to the Minzhi reservoir.The water area is approximately 7 hectares.The elevation of the site12、 changes dramatically,with the water level at 5 elevation to the top of the central hill at 40 elevation.The adjacent development site is at approximately 5-1 elevation at the reservoir levee the the sites buildings and is used for toilet flushing,irrigation and fire sys20、tem.Exctess water flows into pools and canals of the outdoor waterscape.Planted purification biotopes are integrated as metre-long,sign-posted nature trails of different lengths leading through the woodland and introduces diff22、erent aspects of woodland ecology.A splendid example of reforestation and the first nature re-serve in Hong Kong which covers an area of 460 hectares,and is heavily wooded,with more than 100 different species of trees.The territorys best bird watching site,attracting migrants of a high biodiversity.This will include the restoration of two high value ecological habitats,forests and wetlands.Forest Habitats-Existing areas of tree planting within the site boundary are dominated by dense stands of young Acacia magnium,a non-native speci41、es with limited ecological value.The landscape design would involve thinning of existing exotic trees and planting of native species such as Aquilaria sinensis and Sterculia lanceolata that have fruits and fl owers known to attract local wildlife species including forest birds,insects and mammals.We42、tland Habitats-the edge treatment of the existing reservoir and new water features would incorporate shallow areas with extensive planting of fl oating,emergent and riparian wetland vegetation.Wetland habitats are extremely biologically
