garden climbs the stai41、rs,running in undulating lines of different textures and colors.Envisioned as a dynamic urban space;it moves in time and with the seasons.Its lush planting cascades down as though the garden was flowing or melting,bleeding the colors into each other.In one gesture,it narrates a story of landscape ta42、king over and expanding over the Public Space and Architecture,therefore transforming the way that the stairs and the space is perceived and read by the user.It is a garden of contrasts:the contrast between native and exotic plants,between the red flowers and the green grass,between the green grass 43、and the grey paving.In form,the garden engages the horizontal plaza with the rising vertical plane of the steps and the upright gesture of in Australia,th46、is project has considerable microclimatic challenges.The planting design and technical development was tested through a rigorous process to ensure planting success.For the facades,a favric and to facilita50、te a highly activated pedestrian route.The design of Southern Cross Lane draws on both the historic and contemporary language of the city laneways.As a pedestrian link the laneway provides a through connection between one of the citys principle streets-Bourke Street-and vibrant Little Collins Street51、.Glass-covered,bright with light but sheltering,the lane allows for a Studios was commissioned by the City of Whitehorse to create an innovative space with a diverse array of recreation activities and events within the historic and well-loved gardens of Box Hill Gardens.A key feature of the space is the recycling of the former tennis court club b54、uilding.Part of the clubhouse has been retained and reused as seating platforms overlooking the playing surfaces.A new toilet block sits behind the rebound-wall providing amenity to all park users.The site functions as both community space and courts for multiple sport and recreation activities.A
