rights reserved.2C6、ONCEPTThe Vanke South Station Green Spine Park will be a cut-ting edge and iconic 21st century urban park serving as an exciting destination and cultural hub for the grow-ing and dynamic Xuhui Center(South Station)district of Shanghai.It will also be a place of nature,recreation and repose a refuge 7、from the bustle and commotion of the surrounding City.The concepts that have guided the de-sign of the Park were inspired by the transportation in-frastructure that surrounds and under lays it the South Railway Station and its adjacent railyards,the subway lines,the freeway.These are complex systems8、 of linkage that flow,facilitate movement,social and cultural inter-change,and help organize the City.The new park,with its flowing pathways and linked gardens and facilities are in a sense an allusion to,and poetic interpretation of,the flow of the adjacent railway lines.Three main conceptual theme9、s have guided the park de-sign:The Concept of Flow&Movement The Concept of Linked Nodes&Spine The Concept of Cultural LoopsThe Concept of Flow&MovementThe Park circulation system is organized into a series of pathways and bridges that are like ribbons flowing through the site.These rib-bons of flow 10、connect the park to the South Station,they provide safe crossings over roadways;they link to the adjacent retail and cultural experience sites;they link the various park sites,play grounds and gar-dens;they create pathway loops for pedestrians,joggers and a pro-posed people mover/mini-tram.They also11、 provide the armature for other literal and metaphoric flows in the park water flow;light flow;energy flow;cultural&visual information flow;as well as the sinuous flows of landforms and topography.This concept informs the all of the Parks circulation systems and helps bring order and harmony to the 12、composition of the park spaces.The Concept of Linked Nodes&SpineThe Green Spine Promenade is the central organizing element of the Park.It links all of the parks features,spaces and gardens and will be a very active programmed space in its own right a wide,shady promenade full of people,joggers,game13、 players,roller skaters and the like;it will also provide a setting for day-to-day activities such as Tai Chi and group exercise,as well as a staging ground for parades,festivals and other special community events.The various park programmed activity nodes are arranged like a series of jewels along 14、an emer-ald necklace the Green Spine Promenade.Anchoring either end of the spine are Shanghai South Station to the south and the Arts Center Museum to the north one a node of transit;the other a node of art and culture.Two major new pedestrian bridges are envisioned to cross both Liuzhou Road and Di15、ngan Road respectively,providing pedestrian access,safe crossings,additional linkage and connectivity throughout the Park.The Green Spine Promenade will also organize and link the Parks primary and secondary pathways into a complete system of movement.While primarily for pedestrians,the Spine will a16、lso accommodate a state of the art solar-electric people mover/mini tram system.There are envisioned to be approximately six mini tram stops within the park and each of these will function as secondary ac-tivity nodes.Adjacent programmed spaces and a series of glass box light pavilions will serve as17、 markers to activate,energize and identify the tram stop nodes.The Concept of Cultural LoopsSupplementing the concepts of flow,movement,nodes and spine is the idea of organizing and deploying the Parks program elements as a series of cultural loops.In a single visit,or over several visits,it will be18、 possible for the typical park goer to loop through and experience the full range of the Parks cultural offerings.This concept ties directly into notion of park programming.The Parks intended programming is diverse,multi-layered and focuses around four broad themes:Leisure,Education&Science reserved.设计说明建筑布局采用了集中于东侧的策略，主动避让了一号地铁线上方的用地，一方面在51、技术上减少了邻近早期地铁和高架建设可能带来的复杂的基础沉降风险，另一方面在规划上尽量保留了基地本身的绿化公园属性，使建筑成为一座“树林中的艺术中心”。从上海南站商务区方向蜿蜒而至的景观大道（下方为轨交 1 rights reserved.The Green Spine Promenade Landscape CharacterThe Green Spine will be the Parks primary place of movement,parading and prom-enading.It will be a broad pedestrian boulevard,typically varying from 9M to 14M in width that will be paved with stone and other fine materials.The apparent sc53、ale and width of the promenade will be broken down by changes in paving material and pat-tern as well as with landscape.Custom designed benches,games tables and other site furnishings will be generously deployed along the full length of the spine,particularly around the people mover/tram stop nodes.54、A key concept-and a necessity for pe-destrian comfort-will be to provide shade.This will be achieved primarily through the generous planting of shade trees.Promenade Framework Shade TreeOne framework shade tree species is proposed to be used along the full length of the Green Spine Promenade The Gol55、den Rain Tree(Koelreuteria paniculata).It has been selected for its ornamental qualities:Its broad vase shape;showy yellow flowers in the summer;showy seed pods that look like red lanterns in the autumn;and its suitability as a street tree,well-adapted to urban growing conditions.These trees should 56、be planted at a close spacing,and in multiple rows,including at the median planters,where they occur.The trees should be installed at the largest practical size and only broad-spreading,non-columnar varieties should be chosen to maximize the amount of shade provided.At the nursery,select only those 57、trees that have uni-form,symmetrical branching characteristics and a strong central growing stem.An acceptable alternative tree species that may be used in lieu of the Golden Rain Tree is the closely-related Flamegold or Taiwanese Rain Tree(Koelreuteria elegans Formosana).Landscape MediansThe landsc58、ape medians,that occur where the promenade is at its widest,should also be plant-ed with the designated framework shade trees.The landscape character of the median un-derstory plantings should emphasize the use of low(1M or lower in height)flowering ground covers to provide seasonal interest.In area59、s where the medians are used to collect or treat storm water runoff,then appropriate bio-filtration plant species should be used.464绿轴林荫大道GREEN SPINE PROMENADE绿轴林荫大道特色景观
