11、 Financial Holdings Co.Ltd and Century Securities Co Ltd who will make their home in this new building For Qianwan,the modern Hong Kong Industrial City,because the site of this tower sits at the very heart of this new district.Shenzhen,the Garden City by the Bay because the client and their new head

12、quarters further strengthen the position of Shenzhen as a global city.As the brief emphasises Shenzhen Special Economic Zone benefits from a unique geographical position and the design for the QFH/Century tower outlined in the following pages celebrates the strategic position both within the distric

13、t,within the city,within the region and in relation to the world.The aim is to create a project that benchmarks against the best in the world.Referring to Qianhai Financial Holdings the brief calls out the following qualities of the company:Expertise,Diligence and Worry free.Referring to Century Sec

23、nd translate these into an architectural proposition.Our work begins with a careful interrogation of the briefing documents.Buildings have enormous potential to support and reinforce the values and aspirations of the client and it is notable in that the brief for this project places emphasis on the

24、health and wellbeing of the employees.Given this we have chosen to celebrate in our architecture the spaces dedicated to these support activities.The space that will contribute to community feature as the most striking elements of our design proposition.Buildings should respond to the aims and objec

25、tives of the client but at the same time they must also respond to the site and its surrounding.It is not widely understood that buildings make cities and good buildings ones that contribute positively to the quality of the public realm can help make cities better places to live.We,as architects bot

26、h live and work in a city and the bulk of our work is in City centres.Our aim as architects is to find ways in which our designs for buildings can make a positive contribution to the cities where we are fortunate enough to work.The new Headquarters for Qianhai Financial Holdings Co.Ltd and Century S

27、ecurities Co Ltd is located at the geographic centre of the new District of Qianwan and as such must address the neighbourhood which will surround it.In much the same way as a building should be for and of it locality it must also be for and of its age that is to say they must acknowledge,and respon

28、d to,the forces at work in the wider context,outside its immediate physical environs.The brief recognises that there now exists an imperative for buildings to contribute to creating a more sustainable future.Since its inception the architecture of RSHP has celebrated the technologies that make for m

29、ore efficient buildings.In addition we have pioneered the use of off-site manufacturing and modularisation of the construction process to drive up quality and drive down waste.Each of our project aims to extend this trajectory and we are always looking for new and innovative ways to make our project

34、s building.It sets out a both the commercial considerations along with a forward thinking strategy focused on the wellbeing of the buildings users.It proposes that the design should create a balanced response that measures the needs for an efficient workplace against a concern for the wellness of th

35、e workforce.All of this alongside a regard for the wider issues of ecology,energy and the environment.We have extracted key words from this brief.Words that find resonance in our design include:InternationalSolemn and gracefulShared communityHuman CentricWellbeingIn addition to all these attributes

44、 the district Junction of TinghaiAvenue and Qianwan 2 RDIt overlooks the linear parkway that leads downthe waterfront,thereby connecting this lot to acontinuous network of greenspaces that culminatesin an arc of parkland that encircles the bay.We believe the building needs to act as fulcrum for the

45、district creating a point of reference that emphasises the centrality of its position within the community.The tower will sit at the nexus of a new city quadrant overlooking the most important feature adjacent to the site namely the Municipal Green Belt.This is just one component of a city wide netw

46、ork of open spaces that permeates all quarters of Shenzhen the Garden City on the Bay.We believe the siteprovides an opportunity to extend and amplify this network of green spaces by extending the green spaces up and into the tower.Whilst its main address should exploit its privileged location astri

47、de the park in order to command it location at the heart of Qianwan it should also present an assertive presence when seen from the surroundings hence we propose a tower punctuated on all four faces with giant windows that celebrate the centrality of its location,captures view to the north,south,eas

53、 and Century Securities Co Ltd.Harmony is a key word used in the brief and we have sought to find a harmonious relationship between the diverse components of the brief.We believe a building of discordant forms would be inappropriate given these aspirations.Thus we propose a building form that is har

54、monious in form,in proportion and in character.At the same time we believe the design should make visible the clients commitments to the importance of community,Wellness and the environment in summary it should combine business propriety with a Human-Centric emphasis this in essence,characterises ou

107、the North WestThe brief is very specific with regards the appearance of the building and includes words such as simple,modern,solemn and elegant.We have therefore opted for a very classic pallet of material for the main body of the building.This restrained pallet of material is punctuated by touches

108、 of more exotic colours and materials.In the cut-out openings in the facades we have introduced bright metallic finishes and our proposed choice are the metals most frequently associated with finance bronze,silver and gold.Thus we create a contrast between the material used for the body of the build

109、ing,which speak of solemnity and elegance and the coloration of cut-outs which incorporate bright,sparkling metallic materials highlighted with flashes of carefully selected complimentary colours.Choice of material at the base of the building will be materials of and for the ground namely stone,wood
