230、ction contracts to contain provisions as to insurances such as Employees Compensation Insurance,Third Party Liability Insurance,Works Insurance and,on occasion,Professional Liability Indemnity Insurance.For employers,the insurance placement ensures that the contractual indemnities are backed by a fi
231、 nancial institution that can aff ord to pay.For contractors,it provides a certain degree of protection to ensure that he has the means to pay in the event of mishaps.The insurances may be effected by the contractor(Contractor Controlled Insurance Programme or CCIP)or be taken out by the employer(Em
232、ployer Controlled Insurance Programme or ECIP).CCIP tends to be the most common insurance arrangement in Hong Kong,since the contractor is in control of all site operations and in a better position to manage its own site safety/risk.As a poor safety record will count against the contractor in premiu
233、ms negotiation in the procurement of insurance,CCIP provides an incentive for better safety/risk management.On the other hand,ECIP placement leaves the control of the insurance programme in the hands of the employer,thereby off ering the advantage of providing comprehensive insurance coverage on a p
